Synergism

False doctrine

God saves with the help of man

Synergy is an interaction or cooperation giving rise to a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts.

In Christian theology, synergism is the position of those who hold that salvation involves some form of cooperation between divine grace and human freedom. It stands opposed to monergism, a doctrine most commonly associated with the Lutheran, as well as Reformed Protestant traditions (including Continental Reformed and Presbyterian faiths), whose soteriologies have been strongly influenced by the North African bishop and Latin Church Father Augustine of Hippo (354–430).

This theory accordingly holds that the soul has not lost in the fall all inclination toward holiness, nor all power to seek for it under the influence of ordinary motives...To put it simply, synergism is the belief that faith is produced by our unregenerated human nature...
